It's essentially a dream come true for Bharat Exim-N-Handicrafts. For what started as a small venture in 1958, has today transformed into an immense consortium of art. A 100% export oriented unit, Bharat Exim-N-Handicrafts is based at Indore and is engaged in all sincerity, in the manufacture of stuffed leather animals, decorative items & gift articles.
The unit widened the horizons of its activities by exporting the handmade products to various countries. It would not be an exaggeration to state that Bharat Exim-N-Handicrafts is the largest exporter of these products. No wonder, Indore is now conspicuous on the global map for the manufacture of stuffed leather animals and hunting ground for the buyers in these items.
What is important is the fact that Bharat Exim-N-Handicrafts is today the biggest exporter of these products. In this context, Bharat Exim-N-Handicrafts has done Indore proud, for it is the only place in India, which boasts of this art. It was in 1958 that Mr. C.M. Ramchandani, founder of Bharat Exim-N-Handicrafts, first envisaged a concept. It was he who first visualized that the discarded skins of animals could be artistically used as apparel to adorn the stuffed moulds of animals.
He firmly believed that beautiful products could be made from these skins, which in turn impart Drawing Rooms, Hotels, Airport Lounges, etc a look of elegance with life like and life size (or even mini size) animals in various poses. He also felt that the presence of animals in still form would help spread the message of love, concern for animals and birds almost on the brink of extinction. Thus, began the journey into the world of beautiful products & items, essentially the Royal Stallion, the Majestic Tiger, the Regal Elephant, Camel (the Ship of the Desert), the ever Faithful Dog, the Aristocratic Deer, the lovely birds and of course the eye catching Center Tables, Pen Stands, Puffies, Wall Hangings, Ash Trays, and several other innovations.
What a beautiful work of creativity! What a brilliant piece of art! The recognition came when Mrs. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya presented Mr. C.M. Ramchandani the medal for Best Artisan in 1960, the then Chairperson of All India Handicraft Board, Delhi.
The baton has now passed on to Mr. Prem Ramchandani - The present Director and Proprietor of Bharat Exim-N-Handicrafts.
